Who we are
Alumni giving in Singapore has evolved beyond one-off donations to long-term, well-governed initiatives that combine financial support with mentorship, service and leadership. Guided by the ethos of 饮水思源 (remembering the source), Hwa Chong alumni give back to education and to society. The Foundation is the platform that channels alumni goodwill into programmes.
The Foundation was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 25 September 2024. It has been registered as a charity under the Charities Act since 6 May 2025. It is governed by its Constitution.
Vision
To build a trusted and enduring philanthropic platform that empowers the Hwa Chong family of schools, supports alumni and aligned charitable initiatives, and advances Hwa Chong values by nurturing leaders of character, compassion and service, for the benefit of society across generations.
Mission
Hwa Chong Foundation advances the vision and values of the Hwa Chong community through alumni-centric and values-driven philanthropy. We mobilise resources to support holistic education, empower alumni and students, care for members of the Hwa Chong family in need, and enable charitable initiatives that embody Hwa Chong values. Through strong governance, prudent stewardship and collaborative partnerships, we seek to deliver sustainable impact and strengthen service to society across generations.
What we are established to do
In summary, the Foundation may:
- promote, develop and fund educational programmes in any field of education at any level;
- create, administer and grant awards, scholarships and bursaries to students, alumni and staff, and help develop talents to their fullest potential;
- fund and run programmes that develop character and humanitarian initiatives among students, including seed funding for pioneering projects that benefit society;
- contribute to the capital expenditure of the Hwa Chong family of schools, supporting the expansion, improvement and maintenance of their facilities and programmes;
- aid, sponsor and grant donations and loans to educational, cultural, community and sports institutions; and
- advance the training and welfare of the staff of the Hwa Chong family of schools.

How we are governed
The Foundation is governed by a board of directors and operates under a Governance and Ethics Manual, a Conflict of Interests Policy and a whistleblowing policy. Its income and property are applied solely towards its objects. Core financial policies, internal controls and operating procedures were developed from the outset. Details are on the Governance pages.
